Tampere, Finland based pop-rock outfit Lovex is back after taking a short break over the last two years to record their newest creation, “State of Mind”, which was released in Finland on the 16th of August.
As the name itself, “State of Mind” brings together different mind sets, with the most diverse Lovex album yet. The new album sees the band swaying slightly more away from their classic rock style and venturing more into pop music. The album includes the normal massive Lovex choruses but bringing more variety, from mid-tempo to super ballads to dance-floor throbbing songs like Don Juan. The new album has been created around songs, not themes and has arrived with no boundaries, not needing to reflect on the previous albums. Each song came about on it’s own and once again going back to the album name, the songs were dependent on that day’s State of Mind. This is reflected even more so, as the album was recorded and produced by the band’s keyboard player, Christian and assisted by Jiffel studio’s Juka.
Back in 2006, Lovex released their debut album, “Divine Insanity” which went on to become Gold-certified in Finland. Each of the five released singles debuted on the Finnish charts in the Top 3, with Guardian Angel going as high as #1. The album was released in Germany shortly after, with the album debuting at #20 on the German album charts and Guardian Angel at #22 on the German singles chart.
2008 saw Lovex releasing their second album, “Pretend or Surrender”, with the album’s first single, “Take A Shot” becoming April’s most played radio single in Finland. Take A Shot was followed up by “Turn” which was also a favourite among radio stations.
May 2011 and studio album number three, “Watch Out” was released to the public. The album charted in the Top 10 in Finland with the three singles, “Slave For the Glory”, “U.S.A.” and “Watch Out” all going into the Top 10 of the radio play charts.
To go with all the radio hits, Lovex’s first three albums were also released in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Czech Republic and Japan. The band has played over 350 shows worldwide, including countless European tours as well as club and festival performances in Japan. The latest album debuted at #7 on the Finnish album chart, #1 on the Finnish indie chart and the first two singles “Action” and “Duan Juan” have received massive airplay in Finland alone including a #1 position for both singles on Finland’s VoiceTV music channel.
Lovex is here, Lovex is not going anywhere, Lovex is here to stay. When listening to the new album, try to figure out what your State of Mind is.
